Privacy Policy

Last updated:

Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what information Notepadle collects, how it is used and the choices you have.

1. Using Notepadle as a guest

You can use Notepadle without an account. Guest notes, categories and settings are stored only in your browser's local storage on your device and are never uploaded to our servers. Clearing your browser data deletes them, so export a backup from Settings regularly.

2. Accounts

If you create a free account, we store your name, email address and a securely hashed password (we never store your password in readable form). Your notes, categories and preferences are stored on our servers so they can sync across your devices. All traffic is encrypted with HTTPS.

3. Password-protected notes

Protected notes are encrypted in your browser with AES-256 using a key derived from your note password before they are saved. That password is never sent to us, so neither we nor anyone with access to our servers can read those notes – and a forgotten note password cannot be recovered.

4. How we use your data

  • To provide, store and sync your notes
  • To sign you in and keep your account secure (for example, rate-limiting login attempts)
  • To send account emails such as password resets
  • To answer messages you send us

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your notes for advertising.

5. Cookies

We use one essential cookie to keep you signed in. Preferences such as dark mode are stored in your browser. If analytics is enabled, it is used only to understand overall traffic.

6. Your rights

You can export, edit or delete your notes at any time, change your account details in Settings, and permanently delete your account (and every note in it) from Settings → Account. Questions? Contact us.

7. Children

Notepadle is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

8. Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
